Why Choose Mikumi National Park
Sharing the same ecosystem with Nyerere National Park to the South, Mikumi National Park strikes a balanced combination of wildlife, culture and landscape. Perched between the majestic Udzungwa and Uluguru Mountain ranges, the Park’s location is where the bush and geography meet! Here you will get to spot a variety of wild animals with an incredible landscape as your backdrop! The Park is only 2 and a half hours’ drive from Morogoro city (Tanzania’s 4th largest city), about 6 hours from Dodoma (Tanzania’s Capital city) and about 5 hours drive from Dar Es Salaam (East Africa’s largest city).
Mikumi is the fourth largest park in Tanzania located in the South Eastern part of the country. With 3,230 sq.km (1,250 sq mi), the Park is larger than the European country of Luxembourg. Due to its close proximity to Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania business capital), it makes for a good choice for those visitors who come to Dar Es Salaam but are short on time. With our deep experienced team, Duteni Tours can easily take you from Dar Es Salaam and help you experience the wildlife in their natural habitat by doing a quick one day or same day safari. The Park is less crowded and more affordable compared to some of the parks in the north.
Animals that are frequently seen at Mikumi, include lions, elands, buffaloes, wildebeest, waterbucks, giraffes, zebras, elephants, impalas, baboons, warthogs, hippos and more than 300 species of both permanent habitats and migratory birds.
